The Instrument Speaks – PianoTweet no. 59 (Replay)

My Grandpiano has a Voice.
A voice that lives for almost a century.
She was born in 1916.

She wants to speak out loudly.
She gets this opportunity every day.
As she’s so extremely important in this PianoTweets project:
Invaluable.
She’s limited to 140 notes maximum.
We made a deal about that.

But what could I, the pianist, do without her?
Nothing!

So I let her speak, through my fingers, every day.
I trust her as my greatest and most true friend;
she would never let me down.

This PianoTweet is about how SHE felt today.
Enjoy!

Song from a Past Life (B flat minor Series, no.10) – PianoTweet no. 338 (Replay)

I lived more than one Life.
Probably many Lives.

When I thought about them
as they occured yesterday,
this melody flooded;
arriving from the Past into the Now.

I shed tears about past and future Lives.
About how they have been and how they could have been.

(this piece is the temporary end of the B flat minor Series)

A Humble Song (B flat minor Series, no.9) – PianoTweet no. 314 (Replay)

All pieces from this series are played in B flat minor.
One of my favorite keys.
However:
the more I compose and play new PianoTweets,
the more favorite all keys become…

This key is special.
Almost sacred.
For me it’s a heavenly and still humble sounding key.

Enjoy!

Always a Restart (B flat minor Series, no.8) – PianoTweet no. 137 (Replay)

The B flat minor Series goes on and on.
As if these Series pass by on its own,
with me,
behaving like a messenger.

I usually observe my emotional life very precisely
and I have felt before in my life like I feel now.

It was after my return from Italy,
as if I only had been a messenger from another type of world.
And arriving in Holland again,
I experienced a great restart.

Of course:
it always takes time and patience
to “live” a restart and
change “systems” after restart.

Growing Omnidirectional (B flat minor Series, no.7) – PianoTweet 108 (Replay)

This Series can grow like everything grows;
in any direction and in all directions.
That’s the meaning of Omni:
ALL.

It’s my wish to grow in any direction,
that I can grow all the way around.
I mean, not in physical weight and volume 🙂

So, this sunday starts with an Omniwish!

Enjoy!

Just one in a Row (B flat minor Series, no.6) – PianoTweet 107 (replay)

There are listeners that remember previous PianoTweets
being part of “the B flat minor Series”.
The B flat minor key is one of my favorite keys.

These past days I published the first 5 pieces of the Series.
You can find them following these links:

no. 1 “Harmless”
no. 2 “So Fragile”
no. 3 “Limited”
no. 4 “The Strength of Simplicity”
no. 5 “Highlighted”

Some of these were compiled in a YouTube video.

Today it’s the next one in this series
that I do love so much…
for sure not the last one…!

Highlighted (B flat minor Series, no.5) – PianoTweet no. 61

A very good friend said to me today:

“Joost, sometimes your music can be so heavy, so emotional…
I can hear it when you had a difficult time…”

Then I answered:

“Yes, that’s true. My music really reflects my mood – day by day.
Making music gives me space and relief”.

I must admit, dear listeners, that in my inner space there’s strong melancholic part.
But at the same time my character is joyful, light and passionate!

So, by means of the PianoTweets you get the opportunity knowing me bit by bit!

Today’s PianoTweet is the next one in the fabulous B flat minor key.
Ooo, what a joy playing this!
I highlighted this key in my musical mind…
